Alloy Wheel Upgrade?

Featured Replies

Happy Chrsitmas to everyone., and best wishes for '08.

Now then, I am seriously thinking about upgrading the alloys on my car to these, or similar: 18" VW/AUDI RS8 alloy wheels and 22540ZR18 tyres on eBay, also, Wheels with Tyres, Car Wheels, Tyres Trims, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 01-Jan-08 06:50:35 GMT)

Apparently they should go straight on, but has anyone fitted these to a Superb and had any problems at all? Bolts not long enough, lockers not fitting, rubbing arches, that kind of thing. :worried:

Also, does anyone know the correct tyre size I would need if I do replace my 16's with these baby's? Will the boots that are included be ok?, (225 x 40 ZR18). Or will they mess up my speedo?

Finally, what's the chances of selling my 16's on? I am a very experienced Ebayer, (5+ years and 1500 feedback at 99.9%), so am well aware of that option, but has anyone else 'off loaded' their 5 stud 16's following a wheel upgrade, and if so what method did you use etc?

Thanks in advance guys and girls.

PS: My car is a 2003 Superb Comfort 1.9TDi 130 with standard 16' alloys.

:santa2:

BEWARE, these are a copy of the A8 rims and ALL the ones i've seen have the laquer peeling away from the diamond cut surface within months and some of these copies weigh an absoule tonne!

My advice would be to stick with a known make, you can get last years designs cheap this time of year as I did with my OZ's. I've seen a superb on BBS rims and looked amazing.

Also what do you expect of the quality of the tyres - £419 INCLUDING tyres - you'll be in a ditch before you can say Oh ****!

Thats my 2 pence anyhow!

Cheers for that. All tuppeny bits welcome! I knew they are copies, and I'd considered the lacquer aspect, and even the included tyres, (some sellers are offering to upgrade the tyres if you prefer), but I had never considered the weight, it's daft isn't it, you think a wheel's a wheel, but when you weigh things up it's surprising the ways people find to make things cheaper. I think I'll leave alone and wait for some 'proper' wheels to pop up somewhere.

As regards OZ's etc, I don't like wheels that are obviously aftermarket, I know these A8's aren't genuine, but it's all in the appearance, sad I know, but hey ho! There's no better Superb than Baker21's, but even then, I'd have to change the rims for some VAG group wheels.

I don't consider my OZ's as aftermarket, more like the way the car was supposed to come.

I like to add a little personal touch and also when I put the standard Spider alloys back on for winter the car looks so dull!

Everyone to their own eh.

wheelbase do the A8 replicas with decent tyres. The bloke I bought my solids from had just put the a8 replicas onto his superb and they looked wicked.

I'm stuck with my 16" as noone would buy them on ebaY!!
