Faint Whistling when not accelerating

Featured Replies

This may be something very obvious and turn into a "doh" moment, however, being unfamiliar with anything turbo, thought i had better ask.

Had a 55 plate vRS for 6 months now, very happy so far.

I have noticed recently, that after accelerating moderately, and with foot of the gas, there is a very faint high pitch whistling noise coming from engine. It can last anything up to 5 -8 seconds.

This is about 3-4k revs with foot totally off the gas.

Is there any explanation for this? any ideas much appreciated.

Its boredom; with your foot off the loud pedal, the engine isn't doing anything exciting, so it whistles to keep itself amused.
