Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me what wheel offsets will fit the Vrs? Im thinking of getting some 17's with 37 offset will these fit ok?

also im thinking of some FK Automotive Silverline Coilovers anyone got them? anygood?

cheers

marty

Hi mate,

Well I am not the most thechnical guy on here, but will try and help you out best I can.

With regard to the wheel offset, I think the Fabia offset is 35/38mm?? Somewhere around there anyway and as long as the 17" wheels you want to fit aren't ridiculously wide then they should fir no problem. I have run 18" x 8J wheels with a 38 offset I think they were, and had no problems.

With regard to the coilovers, after researching into this myself a little while ago I decided to go for Weitec's, simply because I read that from people's past experiences the FK stuff rattled your fillings out??? My Weitecs are made by KW (so excellent quality) are a lot less than the KW's and the damping is adjustable on them. They were £620 all in from Demon Tweeks. The ride is excellent on them, can't fault them really. And even though they are Zinc coated only, because they have been waxoiled from day 1 on the car, there is not a single bit of rust on them.

A pick of them at first

Hope this helps mate,

not sure about the wheel offset tbh

I've just fitted fk coilovers, think there highsport (adjustable height 30% uprated shocks) at a cost of £365. I haven't had any problems with them yet although i've kept my eibach springs and standard shocks just incase! every1 has a different opinion on coilovers but I would buy FK again

fitment wise any wheel from mkv golf, leon cupra r or new beetle will fit the fabia VRS. To avoid trouble i've been told not to go over 17" as you then have to start making various modifications. Check out a company called Rochford Tyres give good advice and u can try various wheels on your car.

As for the coilovers - i know a few people who have run FK in the past and been happy and others who slate them. AT the end of the day it depends on where you're driving the car on a daily basis - if its lots of nice smooth roads then I've heard great things. If you live in pot hole and speed bump city they can be body shaking

Agree 100% regarding coilovers - it depends on when you last got stuck on a man-hole cover, hit a gate-spud with the undertray or had a nice fast dash on a decent bit of road, the events colour judgments. Adjustable is good, preferably from inside the car though (oh for my 1991 3 llitre V6 twin-turbo Mitsi GTO, with adjustable dampers, wings and 8 mpg).

Adjustable KW's on mine, f****** hard at times.

have heard a lot of bad things about the fk's,they are used because they are cheap,if you are on a budget the wietecs will be excellent, and the alledgedly best will be the kw's:thumbup:

weather you will notice a difference between the wietechs and the kw's i don't know.

i have heard that weitec's have kw internals

they are made in the same factory,so that is quite possible:thumbup:

heres mine lowered on FK coilovers, they've been on for well over a month and them seem to be fine, but at the end of the day its ur money!:)

P.S. mines isn't slammed at the back yet because of having to do a long journey with a full car but that will soon be sorted:cool:

'AKZ', nice wheels, what are they and how much did you lower by?

Dave

For the alloys, you need to check the width too. On a 7 or 7.5" wide wheel, anything between 32-38 is generally considered fine. VAG OEM wheels that people often fit, such as TT Comps or S3 Avus-IIs are a 32 offset, for example.

the wheels are matrix 17's they where on the car when I got it so unfortuantely I cant tell u what kind of matrix wheels they are lol

the front is slammed on the bottom thread of the coilovers so a dont really know TBH!!! but the kit says it lowers btween 20-60mm but I personally think its miles lower than 60mm!!!

I would love to see how low it would be sitting with standard fabia vrs alloys because there 16's but I dont have them lol

Akz what sort of driving on a daily basis are you doing on your FKs? give me an idea of ride quality etc please

Well I live 30 minutes South of Glasgow, I drive around 25miles to and from work mainly on a bypass and then I am always driving around the town. On average I do around 250-300 miles a week.

The road to my work is pretty smooth so the ride is IMO fine but there are plenty of roads which I use when not going to work for other reasons which are not perfect (IE potholes, speedbumps, divets etc) this obviously makes the ride feel more harsh.

If your area is all terrible roads and your driving all the time then you might not be able to put up with the stiffness of the ride mate, but I'm personally a young driver (19) and it doesnt bother me:thumbup: its a small sacrifice to make for the ride height and the better handling:)

hope this helps mate

cheers Akz - as for hard rides my hubby's golf is on 19s and dropped to the floor and thats hard as nails and having driven a type r for several years im used to bum numbing lol

seems to me as u wouldnt be that bothered about the ride then, in this case then I would suggest the coilovers but every1 is different and its entirely up to u:)

they are made in the same factory,so that is quite possible:thumbup:

Correction they are made for the same company kw suspension uk but they are made in a differeent factory by a different company ;)

There is a big difference in quality, the kw's are near on perfect build quality and are stainless steel. The weitecs are zinc galvanised.

Hopefully wont be long before you can write a review of the KW's matey ;)

I had weitec's on my previous car zetec S and they were quite a nice ride actualy, but i had clearance issues at the rear between the spring seat and tyre (on standard rims), and dont want a repeat performance. anyone running weitec's on there furby?

akz looks well, i like the rims too.

i live near the north yorkshire moors and often have to travel over them so i dont want a too harsher ride. so maby the fk's are a no no.

u could possibly go for the more expensive coilovers (what ever make u desire) that have the adjustable dampers, that way you are gettin the height abjustment and u can make the ride as soft or as hard as you want???
