Fabia Phone Mount

Featured Replies

They do two I think, that one goes over the vents and the other goes down the left side of the stereo and sticks out at an angle facing the driver.

That one clips in and the other needs to be screwed (not sure if it works with the Fabia cup holder in place?)

Ive got the full Brodit kit in my car, linked up to a Nokia Bluetooth thingy.

Works very well and fits my fone like a glove, id recommend a Brodit over a Nokia kit anyday.

I have mine mounted down the side of the radio.

Oooh, they also do one that mounts to the centre console down by the gearstick.

Wouldn't mind a few photos of this one once you've got it done. Keep thinking I could mount the clip in the middle, over the hazard button (so the vent isn't rendered useless), and wire the power lead through a blank switch plate to a 12v line somewhere. But I want to know what the actual clip mount looks like when installed.

I'm fussy.

Mine is wired into the headunit bear that in mind.....

Is that the standard Symphony one?

Very tempted now I've found they do a specific N95 8GB one :)

Hope we get some pics.

If not, I may make my own mount that attaches to one of the blank switches. Should be easy to replace without any sign of it having been there... *digs out tools*

The full kit came from a local supplier, and i fitted, its got a standard twin ISO lead linked to the holder, and it has the charging bit on it, built in, and then thats linked to the Nokia control box for the bluetooth etc.

Ill get some pics tomorrow for you.

I've had both fitted; the side radio type currently and had the vent type in my first vRS. I have some photos of the vent one fitted but they're not on this computer.

Both are recommended though, very good quality. For info, the side mount can't be used with the fold-out cupholder unfortunately, as it attaches to the same Torx screw for fitment.

Here's a picture of the vent mount fitted.

Hold firmly, very impressed.

But now I've had a change of plans so my parrot kit will be fixed on it instead of a phone holder.

Ill post some pics today of mine, i havent forgot, just havent had time!

It's been great fun. Still getting to grips with all the extra torque though.

I'm sure I'll get used to it:thumbup:

Yeah you have to think before burying the throttle..

Going up hills is awesome... come out of curry's Truro, go up hill

towards double roundabout and you will pass anything (within speed limit obviously)

And thats where I'm off to now :thumbup:

( the hill by oceans bmw Falmouth is another;))

I've particularly enjoyed the big dipper on the A30 past Camborne down to Penzance (have to head that way for work). Have to mind the speed cameras there though.

Took my mate out in it yesterday, he was very surprised by the acceleration - and then asked how I could afford the insurance on it!!

How was insurance, if you dont mind me asking. I only got my vrs in october,

upgraded policy from previous car (focus tdci) that runs till march....

70 quid to change policy reckon I could be in for a hike in march.

Saying that Hastings were pretty good compared to others..

I'm with Tesco and I pay £430 for the vrs, I was paying £355 for the golf.

I've got 5 years protected no claims so the insurance has an extra £70 to protect them!!

No one can come near the Tesco price for me - next nearest quote was direct line at £620.

But then again, I am only 24.

Thats not bad. I'm 35 5yrs protected too.. reckon my quote will be bout 350

Always suspicious that a big accident i had in 2000 still effects my quotes:mad:

Will try tesco when the time comes..

Sadly we're paying for all the n0b-eads with no insurance:mad::mad:

'Tis the way of the world.

Im 25, and mine is about 300, with More Than...

'kinell - I'm 28 and paying almost 700 with Tesco - that's with 4 years no claims too!

Now I'm back home, these two pics show the Dashmount side mount and the Brodit vent mount, on my 1st vRS. Left mount held a phone cradle (for Nokia N70 at the time) and the vent mount held a powered Brodit mount for my PDA, which I ran TomTom on back then :)

Makes no sense at all, about 3 years ago 'more than' quoted me for

third party fire & theft on an 'S' reg astra 1.7 td (with a whopping 75bhp)

for the sum of...sit down....wait for it.....£670

I will start a new 'insurance costs & recommendations thread'

as I appear to have hi-jacked djswivel's phone mount thread!

Where does the power cable go to from that top cradle?

Quite impressed with the mount, wasn't sure I was going to be. Want to get the cupholder, so it'd have to be the vent mount. Was afraid it stuck out too far or just looked 'tacked on'. But from your angle in the 2nd pic, it's not that bad...

Never liked the idea of having a phone/pda mount fixed in the car (security and all that) so have been looking for an age for something that's removable. But finally given up. A powered cradle would be so useful.

Yeah, it worked well. Just to note: it did sometimes cause issues with the operation of the switches. Switching traction control off for example could sometimes be a bit difficult. Remember it confusing the guy at a JBS RR day, who couldn't get it to turn off :)

Have now just gone for the TomTom mount on the side mount and connect via Bluetooth for the carkit.

For info, there's also a Brodit tranmission tunnel mount that should fit too. I was pondering getting another phone cradle so I bought the mount but haven't fitted it yet.

Power for the cradle. Can't really remember I'm afraid as it was a while ago now. Pretty sure I just tapped into the radio power supply though.

Steve

Did it stay on securely in the centre? They do Left/Right hand drive versions so I was wondering if they were shaped to go over the left/right vents rather than the centre, like all the diagrams show?
