V plate 1.3 MPi 120k,

I have a problem with the fith gear in my Felicia!

It was driving o.k till app 1000 miles ago started whining on the motorway in fifth and now won't even select 5th.

Is this a diy job or a specialist job. i.e. are there any ECU resets ect. when the job is finished?

Haven't done it myself but in principle it's a DIY job (depending on experience), no need for ECU resets or anything like it. But a Haynes (for correct tightening force) could be helpful.

The offending nut is located behind the "lid" on the left side of the gearbox (you'll have to remove the box from the left side mounting so you need a jack underneath).

The new nut should be properly locked when fitted. And new gearbox oil of course.
