Tinted rear lights...

Featured Replies

Are they illegal in Great britain?

Ill be coming living with Family over Britain for a while in the not so distant future.

is it ilegal to have my rear lights tinted?

or can I replace the lgihts with much brighter ones?

thanks

As long as they allow the appriopriate amount of light through the cluster then tinting is fine. Over here most go for a very light tint, so as not to affect the lights to much.

Some of the cars I see over here, especially those from eastern europe are so dark, that even when its dark outside the lights are barely visible.

I quite like much the darkness of your rear lights :)

did you use tahat tailight spray?

thanks

Hiya :) Mine are InPro rear lights done by a specialist company you an get them on ebay they are a german based company i believe

The problem with tinting the lights with paint is that you run the risk of reducing the effectiveness of the reflectors... if this is the case then you need to fit additional reflectors to the back of the car.

Tinted the rear lights of the Scooby with tinting spray from Halfords. Never had any problems and the lights and reflectors worked absolutely fine :D

If the lights work, then they are legal. If they don't work, they're illegal, and why would you want to drive around with lights that don't work! The lights can take 4 or 5 coatings with tinting spray without affecting how the lights workthe light output and we never had any issues at MOT time. Police can tell if a light is reflective, especially if they're following you with their lights on ;)
