Dent - Ouch!

Featured Replies

Went on our monthly eating/provisioning trip to Calais (advantage of living in Canterbury - easier than commuting to London) and parked outside Sainsburys wine store. A gale was blowing and we were next a 4x4 loading up with booze. Came out to find the 4x4 gone but a pronounced dimple in the rear door. Obviously a door had sprung free, whacked into our car and the perps had fled.

The dent is no bigger than a 50p piece, but noticeably deep. However the paint is unbroken, so in theory it could be eased out. However...

The rear door is full of Audience speakers (the guy who did our soundproofing said he wouldn't touch doors full of electrics - too many things to go wrong). And I think I've read that working out dents requires them to be fairly shallow.

So it may need filling and respraying, which sounds pricey. But have any fellow Briskodans had a similar problem, and if so how did they resolve it? Are there any firms out there you can recommend (our local dealer uses Spraytech but I have no experience of them). Or should I just learn to live with it (hard because it's right outside the front door and greets me every morning)?

Could try it with an air spray and a hair dryer :)YouTube - Car Dent Removal with Hair Dryer and Compressed Air

Yeah - for a big shallow pop-in dent it's obvious - warm the metal then use the cold spray to contract the outside and spring it back. It won't work on a small deep dimple, alas....
