Problem with locks

Featured Replies

First of all i want to wish you all a happy new year.

This is my first post to this forum.

I have a year 2002 fabia 1.4 16V which has a problem with the central locking(no remote control).

The doors lock and unlock whenever they want and mainly when i close the driver's door.

The key and the locking button on the door lock and unlock with no problem.

At first it was an intermittant problem but now it happens all the time and i am afraid of locking me outside with the keys inside.

Is there someone else with this problem ?

Anyone got any ideas what is wrong ?

I tried to open the driver's door panel if there is a bad connection but i couldn't pull off the inner metal sheet of the door.

How can i pull it off?

Hiya.

I think your problem is caused by water or dust ingress to either the convenience module or central locking connectors in the driver's door of the car.

As to not being able to post on "Ask a Tech", you need to join Freedom in order to do that, but the general technical fora are open to all.
