Fan has a life of its own.....

Featured Replies

This is probably a "feature" that I dont get. The climate control changes the blower settings automatically. I just want it to sit on 3 leds but no chance.

Any ideas?

Only had the car 3 weeks!

Thanks

Ron

If it's anything like the climate control on my mum's old Ibiza, you'll need to turn it off auto...???

Agree. Switch AUTO off and manually adjust the blower to 3 LED's. Set the temp to the desired level but be aware that it will still regulate the air temp from the vents I think. So if the cabin is say 22 degrees and temp is set at 20 degrees, you may get cooler air through the vents. May be wrong, but thats my understanding of Dual Zone. I am sure I will be corrected if I am wrong, but hopefully a starting point for you. Enjoying the car? Do you miss the Corrado. I used to run a golf VR6 and still miss it!

Totally agree, turn auto off

Duh. It wouldn't be climate control if it couldn't adjust the fan speed when necessary, would it?

Also note that the climate control can direct different airflows to different vents, something you cannot do with the manual controls...

Its wierd, with my car the auto light comes on at 3 leds automatically then off again at 4. I can turn auto on and off with the button. What i find however is that i'll set it to 3 when i get on the car, drive off and then a minute later it will turn them up itself to 5 bars and i get a woosh of air.

Scottie Paul, Yeah I miss the old days off Golf Gti's (proper ones) and of course the mighty VR6. i dont think there are any VAG cars these days that give off that howl under full throttle :) still though.......bloody corrado''s were always going wrong, it was certainly a love/hate relationship!

No other hot hatch had a noise like that! Remember it well.

Probably a silly question, do have the windscreen demister on when this happens, cause it will switch the auto off and sit at about 3 until the engine heats up, and then will increase to clear window. If not, I would say you have a faulty unit. ;) Hope not though.

climate control is most noticable in cars without it! endlessly having to twiddle with the controls...

When auto is set the blower function you are experiencing is normal. on a cold day it wont come on until the water temp is sufficient to provide some warmth (you dont want a cold draft do you?) and as there is a big differential between the set temp (say 20) and the current cabin ambient then the fan will run at a high speed to try and heat the car as fast as poss. as the cabin temp starts to reach the set point the fan will slow down to prevent over shoot.

The fan will run constantly to circulate and the cabin air to keep the temp level even and prevent a high humidity level from misting up the windows. Air is drawn from the heater matrix, outside or through the air chiller as appropriate to maintain the cabin temp. I think it is wonderful hence my initial comment, but admittedly i was confused on my previous car which was my first with CC.
