Clutch (Again)

Featured Replies

Hi,

What kind of torque should the standard clutch be able to cope with ?

Cheers

Not a lot... If your remapped i would be cautious. I paid the price and now i have a Helix clutch and SMF :)

I can see myself going that way eventually - my car is going to be with me long term so its probably worth it.

The guys who do my remap say the standard clutch will do 330 lbs/ft and they've never had problems with vRSs.

Oh well.

They would say that wouldnt they /\

It depends how you drive it. The diesel lump puts out a lot of torque so even on a standard car it's possible to make it slip, especially booting it from low revs (below peak torque). Likewise, if you drive around it, it's possible to have a remapped car driving fine with the standard clutch.
