Octavia 1 Idle speed

Featured Replies

I have an Octavia which untill recently has been a great car. Recently though It developed a very rough idle and would often stall. My local garage replaced the Crankshaft sensor and this has cured the rough Idle however the idle speed variies between normal and anything upto 2000 revs, The garage said the Throttle Body would need resetting and proceeded to do that the outcome being that they said it needs a new throttle body at £300 ++++ I managed to obtain a second hand one from an scrap car with an engine that was running well. This was fitted to the car by the garage and the idle sepeed is now around 1500 rpm and they say the throttle body needs resetting. I have been given conflicyting information by another garage which says it should reset itself after driving the car for a little while. Help does any one know the truth. I just get the impression that the first garage want me to give them a blank cheque to solve this problem.

was the throttle body clean when you fitted it?
