Coilovers Fabia Help!

Featured Replies

Hello all, I hae a '53 plate Fabia 1.4Mpi and am planning on getting it lowered. I hae looked at the simple spring option and decided against due to the fact that it cannot be ajusted and my shocks are pretty dead anyway. I have talked to a friend who has been in the tuning sector for a while and she has reccomended getting coilovers that are ajustable, therefore giving me the option to alter the ride height if need be. Now, my question, have any of you used coilovers for the Fabia? What are your experiances and which did you go for and why? I was hoping to put it on Eibachs but the cost may be a little difficult on my budget (around £600). I hav also been informed about Weitech Coilovers and been told that these might suit my budget a little better. Basically, what are your opinions? My main aim is to lower by anything up to 30mm and improve the handling in the corners.

Many thanks in advance,

Duggie

Coilovers are usually used for bigger drops in ride height (i.e 60mm)

From what your saying you want to lower 30/40mm i would personally uprate your shocks to Koni-FSD's and your springs to -40mm Eibach springs (lowers VRS 25mm only as VRS is 15mm lower than standard Fabia's) so they will lower your car 40mm

Agreed ^^^^^^

Before you decide you are going to get coilovers you might want to see if you can get in a car that has got them because the ride can be quite harsh? Just so you know my Weitec's were bought for £620 delivered from Demon Tweeks (adjustable damping) and have a great ride even when set at full stiff like mine. They are a good quality kit. HTH

Dave  £600 will get you a good kit.

Hi Duggie

I recently had FSD and Eibach fitted to my Fabia and I am pleased with the results but as above you might want to see a car in the flesh as lowering is not that apparent (on vrs, maybe standard car has a bigger effect).

Personally I didnt want massive lowering, just wanted it to stop wallowing round corners.

The FSD do stop this if you're "making progress" but if you're taking it easy they can feel a little on the soft side due to (IMO) the shock having more than one damping circuit, anyone please feel free to comment if I haven't explained that very well.

I think this is something you get used to and its in the range of your budget, cost me a little over £650 supplied and fitted.

Also I have bottomed the suspension on a bumpy road and grounding the car didn't seem to be an issue, as you often seem to read about with coilovers.

HTH

BTW how do you like your forge strut brace I was thinking of getting one?

i have just brought tha kw v1 coilover kit i was looking at the koni fsd and eibach setup but a freind of mine has them and on fast driving (on track) there just not as good as coilovers i paied i a bit over £600 for my KW's and they are ment to be one of the best after all jason has them on the mongrel i will post pict at the weekend onve they are fitted :D

I have finally opted for some Weitec ones, havn't bought them yet. The reason is that they are manufactured by KW and are a little under my budget, meaning that i don't have to worry so much about fitting them. Also leaves me with some beer money!

Good choice fella, you won't be dissapointed
