Hello all, considering buying a Fab vRS but with one small doubt

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I have been researching for quite a while into getting a new car as my company car Corsa SXI is being taken from me. I want something with performance and economy yet small-ish (have grown to like parking small cars in small spaces!) and the Fabia vRS fits the bill perfectly. I took one out for a test drive last week and was blown away by the torque....BUT i have one small niggling doubt.

I am around 6'3 with long legs so have to have the seat right back and I discovered the driverside door pillar kind of obstructs my right hand view  (in the position I had the seat in at that time). Can any other lanky buggers reassure me that you get used to this and its something you learn to live with???? Not sure whether its enough to put me off but I do high mileage with my job and would be spending a lot of time in the car.

Why cant they make the Fabia in a 3 door version!!!??? (are they going to make the new one 3 door? if so , I may have to bite the bullet, wait till then and choose something else now..any ideas? )

Thanks,

Matt

At 6' 5" I suppose I could qualify as a 'lanky bugger' :D

It is something you get used to, it doesn't give me to many problems, a quick lean forwards seems to solve the problem ;) The one problem I do have though is headroom, I have to either slouch or recline the seat 'rude-boi' style to stop my head smacking the roof over bumps.

Also while I'm thinking of it, because of the extreme length of my........ legs (;)) the seat position (distance / angle) makes the steering a bit awkward as the column doesn't quite extend far enough for me.

As before, you get used to it and I see it as a minor inconvienience that us members of the master-race, sorry, +6'ters have to endure for being physically superior in a shortarse world* ;)

* All views are indeed made with a humourous element and intention. Short people are important too, just less so

I'm 6'4" and have no problem. I have found the pillar blocks my view at times, but you learn to look round it.

I don't even have to have the seat on it's lowest setting- no problem with headroom for me.

It's the first car I've had that both me and SWMBO (5'3") can drive comfortably.

It only being a 5 door was good for me: Ever tried finding a 5 door Ibiza FR? I couldn't, which swung it for the Fabia.

Welcome,

6'1'' makes me a shortarse then, lol

I have no problems with the door pillar.

Lovely car, I've had no problems with mine in 3 and a half years of owning one.

Ben
