Featured Replies

Hi all,

can any kind soul tell me why my car emits a phut like farting sound every time I switch off the motor... this occurs every time without fail about 3 seconds after switch off... oh it's a 1.9TDi Octavia 2004 with 76k..

any ideas....

cheers...

Gilaz.....

mines near 4yr old & i got that.

think its a valve. ;)

wouldn't worry about it.:D

if u know any 1 with vag com ask them to do a check...

Thats the anti-shudder valve. It closes when you stop the engine to allow it to stop more gracefully I think, and then stouch re-open once the engine has stopped (is vaccum controlled). Sometimes it can stick stuck and then car won't restart....

Agree as above mine does it too at 37,000 miles and has always done it from new.
