:thumbup:hey all, righto well, driveshaft replaced, apprantly runin ok, find out wen i pik it up from the garage later but..........

the guy doin it said my wheels are dangerous. set of 14's revolutions. now im runnin them with spacers on and long bolts keepin them in. now the mech said that they aint goin round in a circle but in an egg shape an that its uber dangerous t drive with them an i must be gettin reslly bad vibrations. ok, the vibes i admit but i put that dwn to them bein vauxhal wheels an the offset bein slighty diffrent, but wat i do need to know is -- will it be ok to run the wheels without the spacers an stil use the long bolts or will i have to back to using the ol steels? hoping i can keep the allys as they look a treat on me lil monster.

thanks guy! you all rock!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Are these plain spacer plates that you're passing the bolts through into the standard holes? If so, are the PCDs the same on Skoda and V@*xh@11? If so, then I can't see why you'd have an issue unless the spacers aren't machined correctly.

If not, then read on:-

You might be able to remove the spacers and keep the 14s, but check very carefully for clearence at the back, particularly in the front arches on full lock, around the front struts, and rear suspension arms. You will need shorter bolts by the thickness of the spacer plates though.

If none of the above applies, go back to the steels, and get a set of properly machined dual PCD spacers made up to be bolted to the hubs.

Im looking for some spacers for my felly maybe 1 cm? on each wheel,

where can i get them from

plus

are my wheel nuts long enough?

where do i get new ones from?

thanks

spacers ive got im just passin the bolts trough them, never really had a prob tbh, an the car feels alright, a lil loose in the wet but i thought that was my driving.lol.

OK, but thought (just as Ken) that your mech's ideas about "egginess" had something to do with your spacers? What Vauxhall did the alloys come from? At least the Astra and the Corsa have the same PCD as the Felicia (100/4).

I can't understand how wheels can go round in other ways than a circle if the PCD is the same.

a vauxhal astra, thing that got to me tho is the fact theat these wheels were used on a felly rally car, and the spacers. the driver never had aproblem,in fact, he loved the way it went and handled.i always thought they vibrated because of the offsets. there all balanced propely.

i only get a very minor vibration also.

sorry , but what does pcd stand for? still getting to terms with all this. lol

Pitch Circle Diameter (a circle drawn through the centre of the boltholes) First figure diameter (in millimetres), second the number of bolts.

ooo sound! now im with yas.lol

Cheers to Swedish for clearing up most of the issues I was asking about. Other than a ropey set of unmachined spacers causing runout, I really can't see an issue with the spacers now.

Jack the car up and spin each wheel in turn, looking for vertical movement in the top of the wheel rim relative to a fixed reference point to establish if your wheels actually are off-centre. If they're not, repeat with a reference on the tyres.

I'd expect an increase in bumpsteer, kickback and maybe self-centring from the geometry change. Also, an increase in harshness from the lower wall heights.

If you're really not sure, try chatting up AwesomeSarah for a geometry check.

I guess that really cheap alloys could be defective (bolt holes not properly centered) and that would give an egg-shaped movement. But Revolution is a respected brand, isn't it?

Maybe your mech's an egghead ;)

I'd be most surprised to find even one, never mind four on the same car, duff Revolutions, yeah.
