I'm currently looking to purchase the 2.0 TDi VRS as my next company car.

Thinking of Black as the colour but I can't decide on the Hatch or the Estate.

Having two small children I'm thinking estate will give more flexibility, but the Hatch will save me some money.

I must add after test driving a good range of cars I'm hooked on the VRS.

Any thoughts?

Well the hatch has a lot of space. A lot more than most family cars.

But then we have friends with twins and a low loader would never be big enough for them.

I think this is one you have to figure out for yourself.

This is my first company car. I'm currently driving a Honda Civic (02) 1.4 Petrol, will be keeping this a family run around. The VRS will be a huge step up:)

The combi may have too much room in the load area for you.

I have had loads in mine and have never had to fill to it's full capacity

No; just get the 'full leather' upgrade - wipes clean!

I think the estate looks better! Thats why I bought one. Not that I dislike the hatch, just think the estate has the edge on looks.

Me too I am on my second one

I'd love either, but I'd probably go for the Combi myself. Always quite liked estates and think the body style quite suites the lines of the Octy.

I'm sure you'll like whichever you get though, and agree - the hatch is cavernous. I couldn't believe the size of the boot when I first saw an Octy2 :eek:

I bought a Vrs hatch to replace my Fabia Vrs when we found out we were having a baby. Now that the nipper has arrrived I have had to go and buy a roof box to enable us to fit all the boys gear in the car.

The boot in the hatch is rather large, but we have found that his pram takes up half the boot on it's own. All the other stuff required for a holiday would not fit in unless the rear seats were folded down.

I will definately be buying an estate next time I get a new car(and another fabia Vrs when I can afford to run two cars).

In my opinion it has got to be an estate, oh and defo in Black(the only colour in my opinion!!).

At the end of the day, what have you got to lose? The hatch is huge but the added height of the estate gives it more practicality. I can't see any reason why anyone could regret buying an estate but if you buy a hatch there's gonna be a time when you need just a wee bit more space and wish you'd bought the estate.

I find the variable boot floor is quite handy too if you can squeeze another few quid out of your wallet. Yes it takes up space but it can be removed if needed. It does away with the lip in the boot opening and is well handy for keeping little bits n bobs tidy. Also makes the floor much flatter when you have to fold the back seats down.

Ive had an octy hatchback and now an estate - for me the estate is the clear winner not just in terms of size of the boot area but also in terms of looks. I think it looks more 'complete' than the hatch but that of course is personal opinion. The rounded bodywork of the hatch with the sharp angular spoiler placed on top just dont do it for me im afraid.

The kids stuff takes up about the half the boot so there is still plenty of space for shopping etc.

Ive now also lugged three or four large items that require height as well as depth that simply wouldnt have fitted in the hatch.

To me, the estate has no downsides and is a perfect nippy family wagon.
