How much oil for 1.2 12V??

Featured Replies

I've got 2 quotes from 2 dealers: one quoting 3 ltrs the another one 3,8 ltrs for 1.2 12V(The technical leaflet supplied by Skoda says it should be 2,8-3 ltrs). The engine code is BME. So how much oil I really needWhich dealer wants ripping me off)? Is it worth changing my Powertec 10w-40 to Magnatec 5w-40? The engine has a low mileage.

Every answer appreciated! Thanks a million!

Haynes manual says 2.8 ltres for the 1.2 12v , with engine code BWE

Maybe I'm missing the point here, are you trying to find out how much oil you need to buy to replace the oil in your car? If so why not buy 4Ltr and while you are at it buy some that is approved for use with your engine - I know its just a little one but it still needs the correct oil. Maybe Fuchs from GSF, when refilling your sump after an oil change the trick is to try to measure how much has been removed - use a draining vessel that has a scale, this along with your handbook and Haynes repair manual should let you work out how much to put prior to letting it settle and checking the level - then if okay starting the engine, run and check for leaks, stop, wait maybe for 30 minutes, top up if necessary - then you know next time how much oil fills your sump at an oil change. Always "short" fill it initially as its a pain draining some out (I end up overfilling my daughter's Ibiza as the car handbook lies!!) The oil you are left with can be used for topping up if its needed between services.

Technical data does say 3 Litres with oil filter change, but the Skoda tech at dealer should ensure the oil is at the right level. As for oil type, I run mine with 5w/40 (Shell Helix) with no problems at all.

Thanks for your advices guys! They're really helpful to me! I'm gonna buy 4 ltrs from a 5w-40 range anyway. I'm just wondering how can be 0,8l difference between 2 qoute? I'll do some search&work to figure it out. Cheers!
