Cheapest Fabia?

Featured Replies

I have a friend with very little cash and is in the market for their first car. I've suggested a Fabia as an ideal car but I have no idea what the current market is asking for an early model?

Probably something like an early sdi.

The cra might be more to buy than say a 1.4 mpi but will do stupid miles to the gallon, and cost less in repairs, the diesel unit is so much strong that its petrol equivelents.

Possibly

Thanks for the quick replies but it looks like the Fabia is going to be too much :( Should have mentioned that the budget is £1k but at a push £1.5k but that eats into the insurance budget! Looks like we might have to look elsewhere for something.

Definatly look at the old micras then, 95 to 2000.

loads of the buggers.

Main thing to look for is noisy timing chains

I would recommend a micra, very realible and won't cost a bomb to run, only problem is not very well specced but for a first car it's good

306 is a good first car. The DTurbo is very cheap to insure, ace to look at, and for the most part pretty reliable!

Fabia's are still quite a newish car, and tend to hold their value slightly better than Vauxhall and Ford stuff, because those copies shift probably 3 times as many vehicles!!

And old Fiesta or Corsa wouldbe a safe bet to. Good engines, cheap insurance...

Another vote for a 306 dturbo. there isnt a car thats better for the price. Good economy (45mpg) low insurance (group 5) absolute bomb proof engine!!, great looks, Not too slow either with 92bhp.

There isnt a car for the price that comes close. I picked up a N reg 3 door dturbo with 88k miles millions of service history for £880 and that was a year ago, and its been fantastic, will run forever. I wouldnt look past one

I'm sure you can get an early mpi for £1000. I was only offered £400 for mine in part ex with 90,000 mls. It was in really good nick but was in undesirable white which I find strange because I think it looks great in white. The one higher up this thread looks really good.

There are some on auto trader at the minute which are around a grand.

Have a look.

That was my first car, and it was a fantastic little motor.
