Octavia Clutch Pedal Stuck Down

Featured Replies

Hi I've just bought a 52 reg Octavia 110 bhp 1.9Tdi Estate off Ebay a few days ago and its been fine untill today when I turned the engine off while stationary and in 1st gear while waiting at a level crossing. The clutch pedal then stuck fully pressed to the floor when I removed my foot. I then started the engine and the car moved forward on the starter despite the clutch pedal remaining pressed flat to the floor!.

I drove the car in 1st gear to somewhere where I could leave it parked without getting a parking ticket and had a look at it but couldn't see if anything like a cable had snapped! which is what I suspected as the clutch had remained Engaged.

At this point I Pulled the pedal backup and it then resumed working as it should.

It seems a strange sort of a fault to me, Anybody got any idea what the problem is likely to be and if its going to be expensive to sort?

welcome to briskoda

Welcome to the site, as to your problem, it's very common, there is a fix for it. Most people just live with it.

If you go here and search clutch issues you'll have a lot or reading.

Welcome.

Ours has done it occsionally for the last 60,000 or so miles, probably about once evetry couple of months. I was going to fix it when it became more frequent but it hasnt, just hook your toe under it & pull it back up

Thanks for all the replies

Anybody now what the likely cost is if I were to get it repaired at a garage or if I was to attempt it my self what would be involved and whether I would need any special tools for the job.
