To own or not to own ?

Featured Replies

Do you think that running a leased car you get better service from Skoda ( problem solving under guarantee or length of contract ) than individual private owners.?

I think it'll come down to the dealer in question and how big the leasing contract is. If it's just for you, I can't see there being any difference in service, however, if you were part of a fleet, then they may bend over backwards to retain the business.

Hi ScoobyChris, I seem to understand that the leasing company told my wife, ( she is the name driver) that as car is leased it will come to a special VAG/ SKODA workshop,( main concessionaires) not the Skoda main dealers workshop for any service etc. This only applies to a leased contract cars. Owned cars are serviced at the SKODA only dealers as per normal. Has anybody heard of that situation. ? Thank you.

Eh?

Utter BS. Mine's a personal lease with Lex. my 2nd with Lex - both Mk1 and Mk2 octy.

Both were supplied by the main dealer, I picked it up from them in person, and they did ALL works on them.

Now I've moved, I'll simply use the local dealer and when I do mention it's a lex vehicle. Never had any issues with work being refuse, not done or having to use Lex to get heavy with them. TBH the dealer will have no idea whether it's a fleet or personal lease.

Although I'm the driver, technically the lease firm is boss. So long as it's a recognised Skoda dealer, then the lease firm have no issues, and the know to treat the car right ;)

Hi Gadgetman

BS ??? Sorry do not understand ??

Here we are in Croatia not the UK. We bought car through a small local dealership, which was about 50km away from where we live. They have another branch office ( workshop etc ) closer to our home, so we were handed the car from that branch. Car had to go to yet another garage to get its first MOT which in Croatia you have even when car is new. Now the Leasing company is similar to Skoda leasing, but another name, and leases only VAG cars. That company is also the main concessionaires for all VAG cars here. So unlike your situation our local dealers know we have a private leasing contract ( car is owned by lease company) and as such it appears local dealers are obliged to have those leased cars serviced at that main VAG concessionaires, not in their own perfectly good authorized Skoda workshop.

We were told this by the leasing company. " Doesn't matter you didn't purchase car from us the main concessionaires, as all cars owned by us are serviced in our own workshop", so he said. So my original question was as the main concessionaires/ lease company seem to be looking out for their own vehicles do they treat those cars any differently.
