Windows Service log on

Featured Replies

Using SrvAny to run an application as a service and from time to time the service seems lose permissions and stop doing anything but without warning.

Once this has occurred if you reboot the server then the service won't start even though it is on automatic start.

If you go into the service, type the password in again for the log on as for the service and then apply it grants the user permissions again and then runs and autostarts on reboot just fine.

This seems to be happening periodically as something around a weekish apart.

Anyone any ideas?

Has the user account you're using got the rights set? Log on as a service and in some cases act as part of the operating system? Used to get little glitches like this with srvany on the odd sbs machine.

I used this on a couple of customers machines as it proved more reliable AlwaysUp - Run your Windows Vista/2003/XP/2000 application 24/7 as a Windows Service

there was also a kb out about registry permissions relating to W2K3 SP1 and srvany, I will have to have a nose around for it though
