No throttle

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am the owner of a 2002 Skoda octavia 19.tdi 110 bhp, with around 70 k on the clock.

A couple of times over the past month the car has developed a very strange fault. When driving and slowing for traffic etc where the revs reduce to idle or the pedal is released, the revs raise to around 1200 rpm without touching the accelerator. If I then depress the accelerator pedal it has no effect whatsoever on the engine revs. No acceleration is available until i switch off the ignition and restart where all is fine, however on occasions the glow plug warning light flashes, although the vehicle drives fine.

I have had the vehicle looked at a few times but nothing was found as the problem is not permanent. Any one any ideas, as for obvious reasons Im wary to overtake now.

Any ideas

Cheers:)

Throttle position sensor, or brake lamp switch. VAG-COM should log a fault for either of those.

Thanks for that. Have already changed the brake light switch, so the throttle sensor seems like the next port of call. Does any one have any knowldge of how easy the sensor is to fit or is there the need for any special tools etc.
