maf cleaning

Featured Replies

hey all, i think the maf on my car needs cleaning or becoming faulty due to the fact that 4 out of the last 5 times i have driven my car shortly after starting it it seems very under powered and spluttery for a couple of seconds then it clears. in the past on my other cars i have just used electrical point cleaner but is there anything better or is this not the problem. cheers lee

Petrol or diesel?

If diesel, check the clear section of the fuel pipe before you start for an air bubble. Is it OK after starting the first time? If so, has the bubble gone?

sorry its petrol 1.8t

Ok, I suspect it's something else, but try disconnecting the MAF, and see if that cures the problem without inducing anything else.

I was asking about a diesel because that's the usual sign of bad glowplugs.
