Temp sensor question

Featured Replies

I know its been cold but my car is showing extreemly cold external temps, friday it was -16 in the Garage. Is it just a case of replacing the sensor or can it be something else. Ive heard it can possibly be a wiring fault

Any thoughts appreciated

Anyone ??

Your post is a little ambiguous, I presume that you are talking about the sensor for the outside temperature for the MFD display. The -16 bit, was it actually that temperature or was it noticeably warmer and it was displaying -16? You could check the wiring for it, the sensor lives behind the left hand bumper grille, it is possible that it could have dropped and is sitting in some water or is up against some cold plastic, other than that you may need to replace it.

Yep outside air temp sensor, It was around 5 deg outside I guess, the -16 was showing in the garage.

So its either the sensor or the wiring going to it, I will have a look at the wiring at the weekend & take it from there. Not really that worried what it reads but I know the aircon wont work below I think its 4 deg & its handy to have for demisting.
