car died atlast!

Featured Replies

well my car started playing up yesterday looked as if headgasket had gone it wouldnt start n then played up once it did, and today it stoped again got my mate out and we discovered it was ****in oil out like mad and oil was coming out of the exahust, im just wondering how bad the car would be if i put a 1992 1.3 full carb engine in, the one in now was a 1995 1.3i

I wonder if that's a result of the oil level increasing with coolant continually added to it? It's the only way I can imagine it would rise to the exhaust manifold where it would be forced out the exhaust.

Prices the cars are these days, what about stripping your current one of all good bits and buying another rather than going to hassle of an engine swap?

i really cant see how it happend as the oil level was actuly very low and not mixed with water, havent done the engine swap yet the original engine fired up again and seems ok its very strange it keeps dying then after a few hours seems fine for a few weeks or months, but an engine swap isnt too much work i have a engine lift lol makes life so easy

I would be tempted to check the crankcase breather at least :)

get a 1.3 mpi in there.

Could be a failed piston ring or two. That pressurises the oil like anything! A compression tester will likely show you which barrel the problem comes from, but then so would a careful inspection of each spark plug, most likely.

first off have chacked each sparkplug and they are normal. and thats a good idea with the mpi engine just need to find one

i'd have a good go at fixing that, the engines are so simple to fix and like you say its even still running! i've cars would beg for a rough but going engine!
