Headlight Washer Cover Broken

Featured Replies

 Was cleaning my Octy Elegance estate this morning, a job i do at least once a week, when I had finished drying under the bonnet and topping up the screenwash (same routine from new 33 for months ), as i was putting the bonnet down, (drop the bonnet from about 4" or so) the offside headlight washer cover fell off!! leaving a hole in the bumper exposing the headlight washer mechanism.

On closer examination it appears that the clips which hold the cover on had fractured. Has anyone else experienced this phenomena and how long will it take to be fixed? . The plastic appears quite brittle. The car has never been near a car wash, never had a bump , there isn't even a stone chip on the cover. My wife saw it happen and she joked about the Skoda being made of "budget" quality components and "you just throw them away after 3 years". I am beginning to think she is right.Thank god it is still under warranty because I envisage a new part being ordered, needing painted, and I wonder whether the cover just clips on or is the repair a bumper off job?

I think the cover clips onto the end of the washer nozzle that pops out to wash the headlight. As long as the plastic hasn't broken off the nozzle it should be a case of clipping a new cover on.

The cover is replaceable and simply clips on to the washer itself. I had to replace mine after someone hit my car in Sainsbury's car park last year and caused damage to the bumper and washer. All you need to do is spray the new part while it is off the car to get a colour match.

Thanks for that, I am glad that the repair is not going to be difficult. My concern is that it broke without any provocation.

;)Thought about that ,but she has to stay at the moment because she is a key witness regarding warranty!!!

Dealer is looking into making a claim.
