2 Years done (mini review of oct rs)

Well it’s 2 years to the day since I acquired my Octavia vRS. With 28k on the clock, Overall impression of the car is good. I had a few niggles when I first had it. The temp sender and the ARB needed replacing these jobs had a meal made out of them by my local dealer who proved to completely useless in most aspects of looking after you once they have sold you a car.

When I first had the car I was convinced there was a gearbox fault which resulted in the dealers changing the clutch and fly wheel, which in all honesty I can say made no difference whatsoever to the gearbox and with time I came feel that is just how they are, and there never was a fault (whoops) I would agree with the general description banded about which is “notchy”. Generally though these cars are well built

I cover about 350 miles per week in this car quite comfortably. I do a lot city and residential area driving and the car is worked hard in all weathers. And seems to be more than up to the job. As cars go for me it has been very reliable never once leaving me stranded, I had an oxygen sensor go once which still left the car drivable in fact it felt no different to normal. I do have a slight issue with wishbone bushes which only seem to last about a year at a time but I think this has a lot to do with the amount of speed humps which I am forced to go over on my daily duties.

Fuel is sometimes good and sometimes bad depending on how I feel at the time lol

Generally though if you want to nurse it, it will return good mpg for the type of car it is. I do suffer with a few interior rattles but it is approaching 5 years old and they only appear when a road is less than good condition. I have 2 very enjoyable years motoring out this car and hope to have a few more yet; it now just turned 68k and feels as nimble and powerful as the day I got it.

As a workhorse this car is a better choice for me than say a CTR or a Scooby as it blends into the background better and no one really notices you day to day which I like to be honest.

Overall impressions are good after 2 years as said a few niggles here and there but considering the type of mileage and abuse it’s under from day to day it seems to take it all in it’s stride

(although I can’t help feeling the gearbox is going to pop one day)

Maybe I shouldn’t have typed this up and it will be all down hill from here (bad ju ju)

We shall see
