Octavia II vRS xenons...

Mine ain't

There's no such thing as original factory-installed bi-xenons for the VRS II.

Nope, in the Skoda range only the Superb has these as an available option. :)

They are "mono-xenons".

The standard car has a halogen bulb behind projector lens, the xenons effectively replace these low beam halogens. The full/main beam on either is produced by a halogen bulb in headlamp section closer to grill.

Both are static (not withstanding the auto levelling or manual levelling options).

Bi-xenons generally have a mirror or shutter to control low/high beam. Very rarely, two sets of bulbs - this is due to the fact that the bulbs take a small time to strike and build up output intensity and don't generally like to be switched on and off repeatedly (ie "flashed").

Anyone noticed how similar the B6 Passat and Octavia II headlamp units are? I wonder whether the bi-xenon innards could be transferred over to an Octy II unit. VAG-COM has the ability to recognise the bi-xenon shutter facility.

An expensive experiment mind...........
