German looking metal number plates.......

Featured Replies

Where can these be bought from?

Im preferably looking for ones with the lower edge tag where on a german car, it would have the dealers name and details etc.

Are these just fixed on as per the oe one's?

Thanks:)

You can get the pressed alloy plates from Dubmeister - Where performance meets style! the tag bit on the bottom is a plastic backing plate and there are a few floating around on here/ebay and somewhere on the web, i'll have a rake and see if i can remember the site.

EDIT: Just checked and dubmeister do them too.

Thanks for that! Are they the only place that does them? Is there anywhere that does them with a cheq tag at the bottom?

Also, i know dubmeister say they are 'show plates' but ive seem these on cars on the road?

Does anybody run them all the time on their car and have them attracted the attention of the polis?

They are illegal, so just a case of how much you want to risk it.

Police are really cracking down on it now, not worth the hassle dude

Thats the general opinion im getting. Up here in the coutry north of aberdeen, police are always slow to catch on - like a couple of years or more slow.

Also, i would imagine that just like a bulb failure, lack of L plates or indeed a number plate with a dodgy font, they would just give you a vehicle rectification notice and 7 days to produce your docs and a sorted car.

Maybe, at least up here, its worth it until they tell you to take them off? They maybe never will.

Does anybody have a photo of them on their skoda (preferably fabia) that i could see please?

Ta

I have pressed plates but with the standard UK font.

Still not strictly legal, but less likely to get pulled.

IIRC they can give out a £30 fine as well as the producer.

If it helps, here are mine on an Octy - UK font pressed plates from Dubmeister with a separate surround (very similar to the one which was done as a group buy on here)....

I presume that thats a cheq tag on the bottom of yours?

Mine is a separate surround - its not a tag that is attached to the number plate itself.

The address is the Skoda HQ address and phone number in the Czech republic.

There was a potential Group Buy on the surrounds - and it has now been decided to make these an item for the Brisky shop. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/general-car-chat/feeler-number-plate-surround-briskoda-shop/88907/ has further details, although it appears the writing will be www.briskoda.net and not the Skoda address.

The thread above also shows the surround separately - the number plate (standard or pressed metal) slides into this

Normally a £30 fine but has been reported of other things happening. Mine took the **** a little bit, off the car now though

Mine would be as your is but without the 'stadt' and tax emblems in the middle.

If you could get away with yours though that would be great as there is no doubt that it looks ace.

Actually, no, i wouldn't be as so wide to fit a white one on the back too - mine would be yellow.

Heres mine got em from dubmeister, £56

You wont be able to get the Czech surround as there like rocking horse poo, i got the ADT Tuning one as its the closest Skoda esque one as ADT do Skoda tuning too

Just to add my 2p I have the Czech flag on my plates from Dubmeister and I have never been stopped having had them on the cars for a long time now................more than likely I will get stopped shortly but IMHO these look pretty good:

ive run mine for 3 years now and hubby runs his for 2 years complete with all the stickers on and not one copper has every said a word :D guess we are just lucky lol

Simon, I think the difference wth yours are that they are the correct colour front and back. Which makes them a lot closer to legal than the white front and back ones.

Could well be buddy...........I also think that I have the correct spacing and I am not trying to do anything with the text or spacing that I shouldn't be.......IMO they are pretty in-offensive.........

How's that Avant going? Mrs might be changing jobs again.......wish I hadn't sold it now............:(

Its going well.

Just finishing off the leather install. I'm keeping the orig door cards as the ones I got with the leather were a bit tatty. I'm delicately cutting the leather inserts out of the tatty cards and replacing the fabric ones in the Avant's.

Typical Audi interior build quality means it's taking a while to do properly.

That sounds great mate and it deserves a leather interior as the rest of it IMHO was in cracking condition............please send me some pics with your progress as the Mrs would love to see it................

I'll sell it back to you for £2K once it's done if you want :P;):D:thumbup:

I have had my pressed plates on for almost 12 months and i have never been stopped by any police!!

One of my sons was stopped on the A1 in Hertfordshire for having an 'irregular' numberplate. The police were very pleasant but had a good look at his car for any other defects and then sent him on his way with a £30 fine.

i was stopped with them on my mk2 golf, got them on my 57 fabia, but without the "D" just the german style font, so far no probs, but they have only been on 2 weeks :S got mine off fleabay for £10. bargain in my opinion :D

  • 1 month later...

Just fitted mine. Very happy with the look. Opted for the GB band, but decided to risk the German font...
