Carbonio fitting

Featured Replies

Just fitting my Carbonio at the moment, got all the pipework in place, but where the metal angled pipe comes down behind the bumper, the horn is in the way? does this have to be moved?

Not got instructions as bought it second hand!

All the ones I have seen press up against the horn, but there should be enough space with a bit of persuasion.

Thanks Phil,

Looked on uk-mk1v'sand some of them mention modifying the horn bracket!

I wouldn't bother personally. I found that the filter got a small dent from pressing up against the horn but it doesn't worry me...

Hi I fitted my carbonio a few weeks ago and came up against the same problem, I had some steel in the garage and made a new longer bracket for one of the horns, the other one I managed to loosen it of and moved it towards the inner wing.

Moved my bracket as well, it bends the horns out of the way of the airflow..must make an extra 5bhp now lol :P:rofl:

This caused a lot of cr*p when i done this. What i did was keep the intake pipe loose, i.e. don't attach to the MAF or the car. Attach the filter from behind the wheel, with the **** guard removed, then attach the intake pipe. It was the best way I found and the filter presses right up against the horn.

Mines not a carbonio its a K&N CAI but I suppose its the same principle.

Hope it helps

John

I never noticed the horns!

Should I be worried?

It goes barrrp when I press the button so they are there!! :D

I thought you only needed to worry about the horns with the larger filter?

When my Carbonio was fitted I only saw them putting the filter on in behind the wheel arch guard.

They had it fitted in 15 mins?

It took me ages, but I did it from above. I had to remove the battery and the headlight (xenon) to get it to go in!

I didn't remove the battery, managed to twist the intake pipe as I slid it down into the space behind the front bumper, left it disconnected from the MAF and that little bolt on the inner wing.

I just couldn't seem to find any way of lining it up so it was clear of the horn! But at least I've got a few ideas for tomorrow now!!

when i tightened it to the MAF the hose used to attach is slightly bent to accommodate for the dodgy positioning, its tight but it fits, i tryed loads if ways, the easiest was removing the crap guard, the wheel can stay on but car needs jacked up.

Good luck

Hope you got this sorted. If not I can send you a scanned copy of the instructions if you can give me your email. It fits but is really tight. YOu can play around with teh steel pipe between the filter and the carbonfiber pipe and you will get a position where it just touches the filter.

Thanks guys, just trying again now. Seems that the electrical connector between the battery and inner wing gets in the way quite a bit too!!

Yes, I moved it on mine :D

Done it! And didn't need to move the electrical connector, although I dod move one of the horns. Going to make a bracket up for that when I've got more time.

Just need to get a new vacuum hose for the DV and it'll be sorted!

Had to move one of the horns on mine too but found that by removing the offending object loosening the bracket and turning it 90 degrees it clamped down again on its mount just fine

I then turned the horn upside down and bolted it back onto the bracket and that was it, minimum of fuss took five minutes and now nothing in the way of the filter
