Boot Problems

Featured Replies

Hi all,

About a year ago I bought my first car which is a 2001 1.9tdi fabia elegance and recently i've been having trouble opening the boot.

I've searched for other threads about problems with unlocking the boot but all the threads seem to be about octavias not remote unlocking properly.

My problem is that about 4-5 months ago the boot handle became a bit temprementle and when i'd try to open it all that happened was it made the noise like it was dis-engaging the lock and should open the boot but nothing happened. Then the remote locking was doing the same.

Now however the boot handle does nothing, completely dead. the remote locking still works but takes two or three goes. I can still use the boot lever by the drivers seat so it's not a massive issue but it's rather annoying none the less.

Would I need a new boot handle or is it the mechanisms inside the boot and how easy/expensive would it be for me to have a play around with?!

the rear washer pipe can leak water onto the mechanism and electrical switch which operates the release motor and causes corrosion , this can stop it working correctly , will need stripping down to check further
