Is it possible in any way to do the famous 312mm brake upgrade on a Fabia2?

Perhaps with changing the hub to a vrs hub (if it fits.....?).

I would say this is almost certainly possible in some form or other. I would imagine that it can be done using the same brakes as the fabia mkI, as the wheels are relative.

Not meaning to be rude, but do you really need a set of 312mm brakes for a 70bhp car?

I will soon have a MKII TDI running at about 130bhp + and I will not contemplate changing the brakes as I don't feel it will be of any tangible benefit.

Just my 5 pence worth though!

No offence taken Mark. I will probaly never be even close to fully exploite the potential of the brakes but I´m putting 18" on and the discs are looking sooooooooo small:)

If you are putting on 18" alloys then yes it may definitely be nicer to have larger discs.

By the way I think that the 1.2HTP is the best all round petrol engine in the fabia mkI and mkII range. I currently drive the 1.2HTP 12v 64bhp MkI Fabia and can say it is brilliant, especially after about 6000 miles on the clock, great fun to rev!! The Minitek Brake discs from Jabba should do the job, they are 312mm, check with JabbaSport - Specialists In Forced Induction first though!

After having been given a short resyme of the self study programme of the Fabia II from one of my colleagues, the wheel bearing housings/carriers or whatever we call it come in two different versions on the New Fabia.. The "lesser" version which has the "floating" caliper bolted directly on the wheel bearing carrier is used on cars equipped with engines up to the 80 PS TDI.

The "top" model which is used on the 105 PS TDI equipped cars have a wheel bearing carrier, and then an adapter bolted to the carrier between the wheel bearing carrier and the caliper.

I would guess the smartest thing to do if you were to upgrade the brakes on a 1,2 Fabia II would be to buy the wheel bearing housings from a car equipped with a 105 TDI engine, and work from there.. Probably a lot of V.A.G brakes that fits nicely on the carriers from a 105 TDI..

Nutztoys, I think your car will look very good indeed with the bigger brakes, and you can never have to much stopping power! Just remember that bigger wheels and brakes will increase the unsprung weight on the car and will probably make the car both slower and worsen the handling.

I'm switching to 17"s on my car for the summer season, and I'm betting even that is a change for the worse when it comes to handling.. We are all victims of fashion :D:thumbup:

Is the wheel bearing house from the 105 TDI only used on the Fabia or can I find it on other VAG models?

You have a point regarding the total unsprung weight. It wouldn´t be so cool if I can´t back out of my garage due to the increased weight:rofl:

Have also been concidering to keep the 16" wheels to keep the original look and then upgrade brakes , suspention etc. Then the question is will the brakes fit underneath the 16"?

So many choises...........:eek:

Almost positive that it will fit within the confines of the 16" wheels as the 312s fit inside the fabia vRS wheels and they are 16"s! :thumbup:
