Strange noise since K&N install

Featured Replies

Recently had my RS revoed. Then installed a Forge DV. Then got a K&N induction kit and dyno done. Now I notice when I change gear, as I put my foot down on the clutch I hear a noise which sounds like pressure is being relieved somewhere. This sounds different from the psssttt noise form the dv when accelerating. My friends though I was crunching my gears. It's that sort of noise but gentler. Only happens if you rev high, then change up. Just after you put the clutch down fully. Sort of the noise you hear trucks making when they change gear. What is this ? Just air escaping somewhere ? DV is fitted perfectly. So I cant see any problem. Sounds cool though :)

The DV only goes pssst when you lift off the accelerator - the noise is normal don't worry. It's always done it, it's just that the K&N allows you to hear it!

as above, the now "open" filter is amplifing (sp?) the noise of the DV, enjoy it! :D

Yep the DV builds up pressure as the turbo spins up and then "dumps" it when you lift off and the turbo spins down. The less restrictive K&N makes everything sound a bit more throatier and noisier :D
