Good evening, this is Iceland calling...

Featured Replies

Hi Im David and I just bought my first Skoda. ( a New Skoda Octavia II Combi 4x4 TDi) :)

The Profile image is still stock, but Im aiming to see how much I can modify the car. :)

What I bought already;

K&N 57i Induction Kit, TDI PD Diesel Tuning Chip (Still studying: KWP2000 ECU Flasher Chip Tuning/Tuner Kit OBD2/II OBD), Tornado Fuel Saver, Authentic Skoda Allroad Spoiler Kit, Rear Spoiler & Sport Edition Exhaust Tip, Chrome Steel Door Sills Scuff Plates, Milotec Aerial Chrome Cover, Milotec Headlight Covers CF Look, Milotec Licenceplate Chrome Cover,

Milotec Power Lift for Hood & Finally Milotec Interior Door Handles & Center Console Rim.

I need help. I want more performance parts for the tdi. What parts do you all reccomend? I heard somewhere that a BOV is not smart for a diesel car, is that true?

One more thing... How in the world does one change the turnsignal bulb in the mirrors?

Ive tried for hours! Please Help me :)

I'm sure some of the experts on this site will have the answers to your questions. Watch this space........

Don't want to hijack your thread but I would be interested to know how your Skoda performs up there near the Arctic circle. I've been to Akureyri and Isafjordur - brilliant parts of the world :)

Are cars and parts still horrendously expensive up there?

Hope you enjoy the site

Thank you westerdam2. Iceland is still beautiful :)

It performs great, Never have to worry about overheating :p my problem is that before the Skoda I had a tuned 2006 Honda Accord 2l ivtec so the difference in power was alot. But I hope I'll be able to get the skoda atleast somewhere close the honda :)

Everything here is ridicously expensive.

Even if Im ordering parts from Hong Kong, Austrailia and etc. with all that shipping and handling fees, the prices dont even come close to their Icelandic competitions... Its a little bit sad really :s

Verið velkomin á Briskoda! :wave23d:

Probably some grammatical errors there :D (maybe it should be "velkomin á Briskodu"?) but it's a remnant of what I picked up when visiting Iceland and Reykjavik last summer. A lovely city and a lovely country, I hope I'll be able to return in the future (but yes, it's expensive).

You're not the only Icelander around, I've met a Felicia owner from Patreksfjörður here, too.

Hello David.

Did you get the 1.9 or 2.0TDI?

I've put new batteries in my calculator and worked out that there are about 122IKr to the British pound. So how expensive is a new Skoda to buy in northern Iceland? And a set of tyres?

Deep breath everyone - we could be in for a shock!

Vertu velkominn á Briskoda :p (Verið: is floral)

I got the 1.9Tdi, 4x4 6gears manual... :)

Can anyone reccomend some parts please?.. I've kind of never even thought about tuning a diesel before :p

I payed just over 3million ISK for mine :/

Then ofcourse its the insurance, compensation to the government and a lot of other "small" amounts (100.000 each) to pay extra every year.

17" low profile tires are about 30.000ISK each, and here we have to have 2 rounds (8tires) Summer and winter (nailed, microcut, etc..) tires.

...and you have to pay 142,40ISK per litre of diesel...

Expensive?

I couldn't resist to check the skoda.is website: List price for an Octy Estate 4x4 1.9 TDI is close to three millions :D  or 2,990,000 ISK = £24,500 I guess that you added some extras, rakelsif?

But that's cheap compared with Norway where the list price is NOK 318,000 or just about £30,800

In Sweden it's about £18,500.

Denmark's absolutely the worst. Can't find the 1.9 4x4 there, but the 2.0 is £38,000. Our new member Ivan-DK chose a proper signature: In Denmark you pay for 3 cars but only get 1

Yup, a compleate sport package (think its a L&K car there) and 17" aluminum rims, 8 tires, bootmat, floormats and the allroad spoilerkit...

Thanks Iceland for the figures, and thanks Sweden for doing the conversion to sterling

Ye gods, perhaps Britain is not so horrendous after all. :D We do seem to be paying virtually the same as Iceland for diesel though - assuming I've done the maths correctly!

Thinks: Why don't we organise a Briskoda UK members trip to Scandanavia and Iceland? We could each take a Skoda part with us as a gift. It would please our northern friends no end :)

Why just a part? I'd appreciate a Furby Mk2 Estate - mind you, I'm not greedy at all, quite happy with the 1.4 TDI and no extras :D (But LHD, please)

Hiya mate.

If you run a search on the terms remap, tubocharger and Front-Mounted InterCooler (FMIC), you'll get an idea just how much can be done. With enough cash, you could be looking at something like 220bhp, and 330lbft. I don't do metric engine outputs.

Hello and welcome?

What's a Tornado Fuel Saver?

Must admit I'm very sceptical about that sort of thing. But willing to be proved wrong of course!

ok. I've email Santa. Hopefully he'll remember to drop it off to you on his way down here :D

Here is a link

I must aggree, Im very sceptical about that also. But I got it cheap and want to dyno it, if it wont work, ill put it straight in the garbage... or sell back on Ebay ;)

To clarify, that's thanks for the link.

I do not believe it will do anything positive, but I don't think it will do any measurable harm either.
