Sky in MCE

Featured Replies

Ok dokey.....

Got sky installed in my new place, with the intention of running it via my Vista MCE HTPC.

So off I go to order the gubbins;

FloppyDTV S2 DVB-S Card with a CI

T-Rex/Dragon CAM

CAM2 programmer

FloppyBay Extension kit & remote

Problem is it's gonna be around £270...... eeek :eek: (should have gone with the £99 sky + box :rolleyes:)

Anyone know of any cheap suppliers ?

That should work fine, but you will need to periodically put the sky card back into the original paired sky box to keep it active.

yup, just wondering whether they'll ever do some firmware to allow the CAM to update the card.

Contrarily to popular belief the viewing cards are updated via sat, not the phone line. The phone line is just for interactive services such as buying content.

Can you not get the MCE remote to control the Sky box with the stick on IR transmitters you get with it?

Or am I talking cack!?

No need. As soon as I get the kit, I'll be getting rid of the sky box (ish)

I'll be getting rid of the sky box (ish)

Would it be a Sky Plus box by any chance?

nah I just got a bogo cheapest option skybox. My MCE box will become the all in one sky+ / DVD / Music centre.
