After nine years

Featured Replies

After nine years of total reliability of owning Skodas this morning was the first time I have been let down, put the key in the ignition to start it the lights on the dash just kept flashing on and off with a rapid clicking noise then a message came up lights failure. Rang the RAC who arrived within an hour I explained to him what had happened so he got in the car turned the ignition key seen the lights flashing heard the rapid clicking turned ignition off and said the battery is as flat as a pancake. Put the jumped leads on and she fired up so he felt the carpet on the front passenger side so i knew exactly what he was looking for he said it was dry but just to be sure he said he would have a look at where all the wiring runs under the footwell where the relay switch is after he looked at it he said it was as dry as a bone. He said to have it checked out at the dealers to see what had caused the battery to drain all it's power overnight.

Bad luck indeed. Hope you get it sorted out quickly!

(I still can't believe I got crushed to death in the boot of your Superb at the Bury meet!)

Thats a shame pete the superb has seen quite a few sights.maybe time for skoda to pull there finger out and launch the new one.;)

Funnaly enough i have looked into that chris i was in the dealers about 3 weeks ago and ask what they would give me px against an octavia estate which was reduced to £17,500 he offered me £9,500 he's having a laugh.

So going on that come september the price of the current superb is going to be crap. So i have decided to stick with what ive got.

I don't blame you Pete. It's a cracking car and a lovely colour.

Maybe check to see if any faults have been logged?

Whereabouts in Cheshire are you?

Steve

How old is the battery, have you checked the deionised water levels over the cells?

It isn't unheard of for batteries to fail prematurely.

Did you leave any lights on or maybe the radio?

Just asking the stupid questions first to try save a bill at the dealers if you are out of warrenty.

Sorry to here your news Pete.

Hope you get it sorted.

Leafy Runcorn:rofl::rofl: The rac techie told me to get the dealers to check why the battery drained overnight, he put a meter on it just before he left and said it was still draining the battery nothing was left on lights etc. the cars going back in later in the week.

None of the exterior locks have been damaged have they?

The car is a credit to you Pete.

I'm sure it will be something simple to resolve, and after chatting to you the other week, keep the car mate, or do you fancy a swap for the Mad Wifes SE?

The same happened to our lasses furby tdi. i spent hours checking everything as the multimeter said 12.5v, i went to work and borrowed the midtronics battery tester, when connected it said-unstable battery. what this means i havent the foggiest, but i put a battery on and its been ok for the last 5 months

Does that included a full tank of petrol :D
