I'm thinking of going (to look, not to show), not gone before, was wondering what its like. Any opinions?

Briskoda is a broad church after all ;)

That looks quite interesting.

Japfest 2008 - Japanese performance car show and track day

Went a few years back and it was quite good, but you have to really like Jap cars  I went to the Rally Day they run a few months later in the year and much preferred that as there were far more proper cars and a better range. Once you've seen one pimped up Skyline, you've seen them all imho

To keep costs down, find an owners club with a stand and they should get a healthy discount on the entry cost. You can also opt to park in the Mazda section (which is likely to be nice and near the track) or in the general public section which is further away and the good spots tend to go early. Plenty of trade stands there too doing some excellent deals (especially if there's a group of you) so take a wadge of cash if you're after stuff.

Oh, and also be careful on the roads around Combe - lots of people drive like nutters around there :(

Been and gone. 360 mile round trip and a M6 closure for good measure

There's only so many imprezas, skylines and evos you can photo - so I didn't. :P

Here's a few of the more interesting shots I had:

Shame I didn't get video of this civic. Probably standard, it was nearly on 3 wheels going round quarry and after 3 laps he was using the gearbox to brake

I was a bit let-down with that orange supercharged NSX. It had lots of bits on it, which we all know = POWAAH. But, was't any quicker than the standard ones flying around.

Loads of 240Z porn, which was lovely. Will put my piccies up shortly. Quite like Japfest. One of the less 'glam' car shows.

I was really impressed by the NSXs. Whilst the Evos and Skylines grunted, popped and squealed round the track, the NSXs just seem to hum. They were so quick but sounded like they weren't even trying, great cars. I might have a bit of them on video somewhere.

First time I've been to something like that, glam or not, but I'm hooked now and will be off to Trax in Sept

I was there

I was impressed with the little red Nissan

It looked and sounded great ;)

I have a few pics and will try to get them up tomorrow

My first time and Mark`s to walk round as he was always working

So we enjoyed it

Missed the drifting as we was in the pub

But was not on long was it? Was there a crash or something

Mmmm I think I will be there next year too

There was a black NSX that had some sort of after market exhaust, but nothing too loud. But I know what you mean - there's a sort of elegance about the way they go 'round corners, that WRC-replicas don't have.

re: glam. Some shows are all glitz and shiny things. I quite like Japfest as there's a far amount of ropey looking stuff that just blitzes the track, which is more my kinda thing. I didn't get up at 5:30am on saturday for a show and shine. :D

That Toniq R was designed by a couple of lads from my uni, its probably the best thing to have ever some out of huddersfield uni, the formula student car is a joke :P

Seeing that multi-quote is broke,

Sarah - proabably got a video of the 240Z, I'll have to look when I'm outside the works firewall. First time I'd seen drifting and I though it was pretty good. There were 2 sessions for half an hour at 12 and 3. I caught one car going off in the first session but they carried on but the second one was stopped for an 'off' at quarry - not very impressive though - didn't catch it on vid.

Maffu - I think I know the NSX you mean - only one sounded strange. Similar thing happened with the FTOs - lots of V6 loveliness spoiled by a couple of 4 pots/dodgy exhausts. A beautiful cars the NSX, I don't think they've aged at all. And I didn't get up at half 5 for a show and shine either and I had 200 miles to collect bugs on the way.

Apinner - I liked the Toniq R, sort of 21st century westfield/caterham.

P.S. I didn't post the girly photos as this is a family forum :D

Well, PM me the girly photo's, then. :D

And yeah - NSX is a gorgeous thing. Never seen so many in one place, let alone think there were even that many in the UK.

I'm going to the JapShow @ Santa Pod on the 22nd of June. Hoping it'll be a bit warmer. :) I'll put my piccies up in this thread tonight. Took a fair few, iirc.
