Help: (speed sensitive volume) Acceleration & ICE sound volume

Featured Replies

Octy-2 L&K with factory fitted ICE. Sound volume increases whenever I accelerate hard - but doesn't go down after that.

In fact, I want the sound volume to go down when I accelerate so I can concentrate better :-)

How to tweak this feature? I got VAG-COM.

Thanks.

Found something on VWvortex Forums: very fast tapping sound

the "speed sensitive volume" (which can be disabled in the radio options: press&hold the scan button in and you'll see the menu come up, scroll thru til you see the speed sensitive volume, and you can turn it off).

Speed Sensitive Volume is known as Gala. As you have discovered it can be adjusted and disabled.

Might be stating the obvious but I assume you've read your manual.

I have. I never understood what Gala is.. so ignored it. "Speed sensitive volume" would have definitely got my attention! It sounds so much cooler than gala :-)

I think that GALA is an acronym (German?) for something; someone will undoubtedly tell us soon!

How about

'G'et 'A' bit 'L'ouder 'A'utomatically.

A non-funny but informative reply:

GALA: Graduated Audio Level Adjustment

But it could also be a festive celebration or an apple... (gala - Definition from the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary)

Is it only fitted to diesels to hide the engine noise under acceleration?;)

What are you talking about?

Can't hear any engine noise...Only my wife screaming!
