I need to replace the coolant temperature sensor in my 2002 ALH engine TDI (90 bhp TDI), as VAG COM is showing a fault with it. (It says G62 temperature sensor).

2 questions. Firstly, does anyone know the part number I need? The Skoda dealer is a real hassle to get to, but there's a VW one very close to me. The trouble is, the VW one isn't that interested in helping if it's not a VW, so I need the part number really.

Also, is there only one sensor. I'm assuming it's the one on the left hand side of the car, on the end of the engine. Haynes only mentions one sensor, but going into VAG COM, the engine and the instrument cluster showed slightly different coolant temperatures (a few degrees different). I was expecting that there was one sensor, and so one computer would read it and tell the other the result, meaning that they both agreed perfectly. If the sensor is a resistance to ground, then I don't see how both computers can read it...

Am I right that it's the one on the end of the engine that I need to replace?

As far as i know there is only one Temp send for coolant and it is located as you say on the left side of eng.As regarding part number i do not know but maybe a search on here you may find it:thumbup:
