I have just bought a T reg 1.8 20v Octavia and have two minor issues that I would like some expert advice on:

1. When I use the spare key the immobiliser cuts the engine out after about 2 secs. Its fine with the normal key though........

2. It seems a little slow. Having driven a 75bhp 1.4 Golf I expected to feel the extra 50bhp but don't at all, if anything it seems slower in 1st and 2nd. Is it geared long? I was thinking maybe the mass air flow meter could need some TLC?

Your key will either be broke (microchip) or need re-coding to your immobiliser.

As for your maf you could unplug it and see if it drives any better although this will bring up a faultcode so be aware that if you get it scanned it will then show a fault on the maf seeing as you have run it unplugged. When running unplugged the ecu will use default values for airflow which will allow you to determine if the maf is playing up
