Hi everyone, I have recently purchased an used Octavia A5 TDI (105 HP).

Quito, the city where I live is very high 3,000 meters above sea level, so we have to use the gas pedal a lot more to get going. Any ideas of mpg that i should be getting?

Something else, I have been advised to let the car engine running for a couple of minutes to avoid turbo problems after highway runs. Is this true?

Hi and welcome. I don't know the mpg you should be seeing with your TDi but it is true that you should leave your engine running after a while. Invest in a turbo timer and use the search function, it will help you a lot

Post some pics up of where you live.

I saw quite a few Fabias and Octavias whilst I was in Equador - it's hard to say what kinda mpg you should be getting because if you are going up those mountains and also in the villages where you have those very steep roads, your mpg wont be as good as when you are cruising around on the more flatter sides around Quito.

Letting the engine idle for a little while after a hard run for say 30 seconds or something would be worth doing
