Car Issues

Featured Replies

I'm not sure which fault(s) my cars is suffering from. I've listed all the issues I've had over the past few months and am hoping they are all related.

On some cold mornings I start the car and leave it a minute or so and then pull away, when I do it hesitates and I have to slip the clutch slightly to get the car to move.

Several times the car has just died and its as if the throttle isn't working as the car doesn't rev.

Car sometimes hunts around, this morning was particulary bad and the whole car was pitching under the revs. Got to work and it stalled.

Sometimes when I pull up in traffic with my lights on, I notice the lights dim when shinning on the car in front.

Can hear what sounds like a pump whistling/breathing constantly when stationary.

Ideally you need it scanned to see if theres any fault codes present.

How many miles has the car done and which engine is it running??

If its a petrol it sounds like the throttle body could do with a clean

That's the secondary air pump (Hoover sound) nothing to worry about ;)

Not sure why your other problems are so bad though

The secondry air pump should only run for about a minute when cold starting it shouldn't be running all the time iirc

The noise isn't very loud - Can just hear it when stationary.

Assuming its the air pump - Suppose it could be a leaky hose??

Suppose I'll have to take it to the main stealers and see if there are any fault codes :(

Maybe a member local to you could help you out with a vag com scan and save you a few quid

I could be any one of your pipes as they tend to be a bit fragile sometimes
