just serviced my car and was filling up oil and couldnt find amount in manual so was using dip stick and did in increments of 3l 3.5l and 4l and ran out of oil! 3.5 was only just touching the dip stick so did 4 and seems just about ok if a little low. anyone confirm how much its supposed to take? as i thought it would of been 3.5l but seemed to be more.

hmmmmm! not good. will have to drive it to work and get some one way home from work tomorrow. will it be ok with 4 litres? isnt a massive amount to be down?

Where is the oil level now in relation to the detent on the dipstick?

at the bottom end of the perforation when i checked last.

minimum then. ok for a short distance.

will i be OK putting any oil in if they don't have mobil one in 1litre bottles? as long as its the same 0w40 fully synthetic?

Damn, glad I checked in this thread. My car is going in for a service soon and I'd only bought 4L of oil.

I guess thats the last time I pay any attention to the Castrol website which said I only needed 3.5L

checked this morning once at work and seemed to be well into the perforated area but will still go buy a litre bottle from helfrauds after work.
