Petrol VRS estate 06

is that a joke? my best mate is a traffic cop with Lincs Police and they thrash the headlights out of them!!

I sense a touch of sarcasm in the original post ;)

Still a tad expensive imho.

SERIOUSLY, it will have been driven HARD. I speak from experience mate, I strongly advise you to leave ex Police vehicles well alone. As an ex traffic cop myself, trust me, its capabilities and responsiveness will have been well and truly 'explored' by it's drivers. It sounds a tad expensive too imho.

What makes you think that the capabilities and responsiveness will not have been explored if it was previously owned by a forum member, in particularly one that had had it remapped and taken it to a number of trackdays?

The police aren't the only ones that can drive hard. The difference is that their cars are meticulously maintained.

:rofl: not if they are maintained by non skoda trained fitters at my force .....

They may well have oil change every 6 weeks or so but maintained a definite no!!

Naah, forum members love and look after their cars ( I hope !!! ) Old bill don't have any affinity to their vehicles and jump-in-and-thrash.

Anyway according to the number plate it is evil, leave it.

always remember to check the paintwork, until sussex police started getting silver cars, tippex was great for running repairs to paintwork, if you failed to notice the odd wall or two.....

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

the police bring their vehicles to us, they are not meticulously maintained just serviced as per the manufacturers specification. i wouldnt touch it mate.

lol

yes it was a touch of sarcasm

Dont touch em, it'll have been thrashed to hell and back. Servicing would have been done sparingly and like everyone else said it would never have been cared for. Then remember that there will be a gazillion holes drilled in the dash for wires and aux kit that was removed.

Lot of forces now get theirs through a leasing agent and the lease company (Arval etc) determines the running repairs and maintenance that is carried out. ...this is normally the bare minimum needed to keep it running.

I had one go past me doing at least 120mph ish on the M5 yesterday afternoon.....

Think it would be fair to say the engine on a used ex-cop one would be more than run in

I am currently desperately looking for a Octavia VRS Estate, I saw your post about this car and it now seems to have reappeared on Ebay

2006 SKODA OCTAVIA VRS BLUE on eBay, also, Skoda, Cars, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 17-Apr-08 17:48:27 BST)

Mileage changed from 40k down to 28k

now down in Cornwall, but still advertised here

Ex police car special offers - Direct sales of high performance used cars

Sleg

Very interesting that - would look into it a bit further if I could be arsed!!

Could be as innocent as using pictures of a different car as a representation of what the car looks like :) Not exactly honest I know, but I'm sure it happens all the time.

Welcome to the forum btw

Buyer wants contact by email, and mentions a sale price of £6000.

SCAM - STAY AWAY

I'll send them a mesage, but I'll put a tenner on it being abroad and needing shipping back to the UK and needing an off-Ebay deal (which they will claim is safe anyway).

Yes Andy, classic scam.

Someone clones an advert and/or its pics to pass off as their own, insists on deal via bankers drafts etc...

Definitely one to avoid :P

Just looked at the ebay ad. New user, requesting contact via email, it screams SCAM!

Are there clear grounds for reporting this ad to eBay to head off a scam? I have asked the buyer some questions but haven't unmarked the hide my email address box.

Well this is not my way into VRS ownership:mad:

£5000 saving must be too good to be true:)

Sleg

I've reported it to Ebay.

I've also emailed the seller - just to confirm my suspicions - so will post up the response if I get one.

its been removed from e bay

Def a scam - here's my email and the Seller's response....

My Email

Hi,

Just seen your car on Ebay.

I am very interested and have cash waiting. Would you accept £5750 for a quick sale.

Please get back to me as soon as possible.

Thanks,

Andy

Seller's Response

Hello and thank you for your interest in my 2006 SKODA OCTAVIA VRS BLUE,

I had to pause the listing on ebay because I've almost reached an agreement with a potential buyer. Unfortunately, it looks like there are some problems and he doesn't have all the money to pay, for the moment. Therefore, if you are willing to pay the buy-it-now price 6000 GBP, I'm ready to start this transaction with you.

First of all you should know that the car is in excellent condition, mechanically and aesthetically intact, it's UK model with UK specs and it has less than 27500 miles on it. This is a always garaged vehicle. The exterior is in mint condition, the overall interior is pristine throughout, no rips, tears, burns, stains or worn spots anywhere, NEVER smoked in. The car is HPI clear with no outstanding finance on it.

Although my ebay account was initiated in UK, I'm located in Czech Republic for the moment. I spend a lot of the time in UK with business but I have my family here in Czech Republic. I took the car with me here a few weeks ago. I'm willing to ship it from here through Sea Cargo Shipping and cover the shipping and insurance fees to your location. The total price is 6000 GBP shipping included. I thought selling this car through Ebay would be a good idea, giving the fact that I need some fast cash to buy a bigger house.

I would like our transaction to be supervised by eBay Motors UK. In case we have a deal I will notify eBay Motors UK transactions department so they can inform you about my reliability and how we can proceed with this transaction in a 100% safe way.

Please let me know your position as soon as possible,

James Coates

 Text book!!!

if it seems to good to be true it generally is.

I think anyone an buying ex police car would be better buying shares in Northern Rock.

A mate bought a Morris Minor (donkeys years back - that pale blue colour.) I recall the roof having lots of holes where the lights / bells / sirens were - and they were very badly fillered! Still he was a student and it wasn't exatly a performance motor :D.....
