Help interpreting fault codes

Featured Replies

Hi,

My first post here on this helpful site. My 05 Octy 1.9TDI has the engine check light on, I have read the codes using my code reader and I am a bit confused with their meaning. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The codes are as follows:

19557

19558

17057

Also is it ok to erase the codes and see if they reappear before any rectification.

Thanks for any help.

19558

17057

You can clear the codes and see if they return.

Thanks a lot for the quick reply Bruce.

The symptons in the link for 19558 certainly fit but I will try erasing first. I don't suppose anyone knows where the motor for the manifold intake flap is? (please don't say under the bonnet!) I thought I had a fairly good knowlege with cars but this is a new one to me, but this is also the most modern car I have had to work on.

Thanks

Can you confirm which mark of Octavia and what engine, ie 3 letter code and/or bhp? If a Mk 1, the Haynes manual for the Octavia appears to have the information you need.

Drivers side of the engine at the back there is a rubber hose in the intake this joins onto a metal inlet manifold and it is located just after this join.

Anti shudder valve?

Thanks fordfan, I suspected This may have been it. I had a quick look traced the cabling from there under the engine cover and half way along the usual plastic tubing stops and the cables are covered in tape for a short span then tubing again. Suspect someone has had a similar problem before. Thanks for the replies.
