ISO adapter for octy VRS

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I'm intending to do quite a bit of work on the car this weekend but cant seem to find a definitive answer using the oracle that is google.

I will be fitting an Alpine headunit to my car but do I need an ISO adapter? If yes which one?

I'm running power cable forward and speaker cable back down again, does anyone have a handy guide for getting speaker cable into the doors and power cable down the car?

Finally, what is it like trying to get bass into the cabin of the octy hatchback from the boot. I've already added some dynamat extreme to the boot so that should help!

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Regards,

Mart

edit: Its a MK1 Octy VRS.

MK1 or MKII might help you get a reply Mart.

Sorted. Mk1 Octy VRS.

No, you do not need a wiring adaptor. End of. don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

You will need to cut the 'K' wire on the cars loom, this will be the powered ariel on the head unit, so cut it there. You might need to switch the red and yellow power leads around, I did on my alpine, but that is all you need to do.

No real need to cut anything just remove it if not required.

I don't think the K line should be used for the power antenna either - K line is diagnostics.

Ok, sounds good.

What colour is the K Line on the skoda wiring loom?

Thanks for your help so far!

The K line isn't ''used'' for the power antenna, it's just that's what it connects to if you don't cut a wire. On the OEM headunit it does diagnostic type things, but on an aftermarket headunit that pin is used by the powered antenna, so you need to cut/remove the antenna wire so that you don't send power down the K wire and screw up someones VAG COM.

Just to finish this thread off, no ISO adapter was needed. The headunit went straight in with no problems at all and the alpine ISO lead didnt have anything going to the K line.

Thanks for your help.
