Mooing

Featured Replies

My VRS is going to the main stealer tomorrow to get the mooing sorted out. I've got a 12 month warranty but does anyone know from experience whether they sort this out under the warranty or will I have to pay for the new no-noise pads?

Can't answer the question (sorry :o). But, I just replaced the discs and pads all round on mine for grooved and Mintex Extremes as they were worn. I hoped it would stop the mooing, but it did not :mad: In fact, it's worse now. It sounds like a brassband orchestra playing in the boot when I reverse :)

whats mooing?

whats mooing?

You'll probably find out :D

When reversing, there is a loud annoying sound heard from the rear brakes that resemble a mooing cow !!

Or in my case - a full on brassband

hope i dont get that ill think i ran a cow over in the middle of town!!!!!!

Mine makes a nice moo and a grinding noise at the same time. It did it very loudly on Monday in a crematorium carpark at a rather unfortunate moment

Well it's at the stealers today and they're going to let me know what they're going to do. From other posts on here I don't think I'm looking at paying much for the improved pads but I think it's something that should be fixed under warranty.

its odd this. mine did it when i first bought the car, in a carpark when it had rained. rarely done it since.

im on new pads and discs now and it wont moo!

i recon you boys arnt braking hard enough! get those rear discs up to temp on your drive home. might help, i dunno.

when i changed my rear pads, i used white spirit to give the adhesive contact surfaces a really good clean so the pads would stick well. replacing the anti rattle shims on the bracket might also help. or maybe your handbrake isnt returning properly. or maybe the pad/discs combo has some resonant frequency molarky going on.

the discs on this car do seem to rust up quickly though. very grindy the first time you brake. must be the disc material. odd

Mine also used to "moo"!

Skoda changed my pads under warranty, so hopefully they won't charge you either! I'm asuming you're taking yours to the same place I took mine. :)

Yep, good old Caffyns

I asked them to check for juddering as well as it's been juddering a little when pulling away after it's been sat for a while. Think it's the temp sensor, either that or the TB needs a clean but I can't do it myself as don't have Vag-Com (yet) to re-align it.
