Help please - Which VAG.COM system do I need.

Featured Replies

After a bit of searching I can't get a deffinitive answer..... grrr

I am trying to find out which VAG.COM lead to buy from Ross Tech, but can't appear to get my head around what I need.

The car is a 2002 mk1 Octavia vRS, and I want the ability to look at and change settings as needed.

I've found out I need to buy the full registered version to be able to make changes, so this is what I want - just don't know which one :o

The laptop will have a USB connection.

Thanks :)

The Key USB will do the job, as the MKI is on a K line.

Ross-Tech: KEY-USB Interface

If you are thinking of changing your car in the future, the HEX-USB+CAN does cars with both K line and CAN diagnostics - the Octavia 2 uses CAN. More money I know, but either way VAG Com is excellent value for money.

Ross-Tech: HEX-USB+CAN Interface

Both of these are intelligent interfaces where the software license is incorporated into the lead, so you can run and update to the latest software versions.

I have a Octavia II and the mk1 is the wifes, so might just get the cable to do both :)

I have a MK2 Octavia and had tried to find out what software / hardware i needed, and like twonks was just left a little confused by it all. So thanks fordfan.

If you're not interested in doing older k-line cars with it too, just get the micro-CAN lead. £179.99 delivered from gendan.
