MFD and CV joints

Featured Replies

Hi there. My 52 Superb has covered just 40k, but the cv joint on the offside has failed due to a split cv boot... seems to be a familiar problem.

Does anyone know whether the VW Passat PD130 CV joint is the same part number as the Skoda? Only the part is £30 from ebay or £87+VAT from the stealer.

Also has anyone come across the Multi Function Display loosing its memory? The overal MPG currently works as the trip does, every time the ignition is turned off for more than about 10 minutes, it looses its memory and resets to zero, as does the mileage, time etc.

Any help would be greatly apprecited

Cheers

You'll need to check the part numbers on both yours and the replacment one as there seem to be a few listed depending on engine type and gearbox.

GSF will sell you a boot kit but make sure you have full vehicle details. They are up to speed on the Skoda variants.

As far as I remember there are two sizes of outboard joint on the B5.5. The Superb uses the bigger one.

I give my CV joint boots a squirt of silicone spray (not WD-40) every so often - it's dead easy if you do one at a time and leave the wheels in full lock. The boots always crack at the pleats from the outside in. Rubbish material.

rotodiesel.

I think he's after the whole joint not just a boot.

Yes, unfortunately, the dreading clicking has recently started, and is developing quickly... teach me for driving so hard!

Thank you rotodiesel, but I do need the CV itself. Unfortunately GSF and Euro Car parts do not stock them :(

Thank you once again Stu, I will try to get hold of VW for the part number from their CV's...
