Rough start from cold

Featured Replies

Hi, I drive a 2001 1.9 TDi and in the first year of owning it, it always started first time, hot or cold, but ever since I had the timing belts changed at 120,000 miles the engine really struggles to start first thing in the morning, but any time after its warmed up its fine and starts first time as usual. I've taken it to several garages but no one seems to be able to identify what's causing this problem. Any ideas, anyone?

Sounds silly but is the timing out, we had a Mondeo oil burner that ran slightly down on power for about 10,000 miles after the belt had been changed, wasnt too worried as it was a comany hack but when the lease co changed service dealers the new one found the belt was 1 tooth out .

That sounds very plausible, except that if the fuel timing is out you get a marked loss of power and revs (DAMHIKT).

I was wondering if the power feed to the glow plugs wasn't connected.
